8 May 2025Charles University’s International Advisory Board (IAB), comprising global academic leaders and policy experts, met this week for its annual review. The board provided feedback and discussed CU's progress, challenges, and strategic direction for the future.
16 May 2025In an era marked by rising geopolitical tension and increasing challenges to democratic norms, Charles University hosted a conference on 13 May to reflect on the legacy of the late Karel Schwarzenberg. The legacy of the popular leader - who was a champion of human rights - was remembered by guests who knew him well, including former ambassador to London Michal Žantovský, respected political scientist Jacques Rupnik, and historian and Guardian commentator Timothy Garton Ash.
14 May 2025At the beginning of May, a six-member delegation from the Ukrainian Dnipropetrovsk region visited Charles University. The discussions held between the foreign partners and Charles University Rector Milena Králíčková, along with representatives from the university's Department of International Relations, focused on the development of cooperation within international projects.
13 May 2025During his full programme in the Czech Republic, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy found time to visit Charles University. On site, he took part in an important discussion with students, moderated by the rector of Charles University, Milena Králíčková. A range of topics, including the opportunities for graduates to contribute to Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction, was discussed.
5 May 2025Studentská Hybernská is once again offering student associations, projects and initiatives offices in the centre of Prague from August 2025 to July 2026, i.e. for a year (a period of two semesters). These are shared offices in the cultural and academic ecosystem of the Kampus Hybernská, a joint project of Charles University and the Prague City Hall.
2 May 2025Charles University, the largest university in the Czech Republic, welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the European Commission’s consultation on the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for 2028–2034. As a research-intensive university actively engaged in EU-funded research, innovation, and education programmes - we strongly support a strategic, forward-looking, and future-proof approach to the design of the next MFF. We are, however, deeply concerned about emerging tendencies to reduce the role of fundamental research.
30 April 2025Charles University places great emphasis on the development of its employees in accordance with one of the priorities of its strategic plan “The best people make the best university”. In order to provide them with a clear perspective for career development and regular feedback, the following materials were created: Framework Principles of Career Growth of Academics, Researchers, and Lecturers and a similar framework for other employees.

16 April 2025On Monday 7 April, Charles University celebrated the 677th anniversary of its foundation. On this occasion, the Miloslav Petrusek Prize for representation and promotion and the Bedřich Hrozný Prize for creative achievement were traditionally awarded.
7 April 2025Interesting scientific topics, excellent study or sporting results, as well as community activities and helping others, were all recognised by the Rector of Charles University Milena Králíčková, who presented prestigious awards to students from Charles University for their extraordinary activities.
